FUTURE IN EDUCATION CONFERENCE
Vesife HATISARU, one of the instructors in Faculty of Education Department of Mathematics and Science Education gave an academic talk on South Korea: A success story in education at the Future in Education Conference held by Boğaziçi Univesity, MEF University and Middle East Technical University collaboration between 11-12th November 2017 in İstanbul. Hosting by MEF University, this conference brought more than thousand professionals in the field of education together. In this talk, with more than fifty (active) participants, the following points were discussed: how a country that was one of the poorest countries in the world about 60 years ago and with a meager natural resources has become one of the big economies in the world in such a short period of time, “Hagwons” and its impact on students and teachers, teacher training policy, the last reform initiatives launched by the government in pre-school, middle school, elementary school, high school, university and adult education levels.
