Abstract: This study examined teacher-child interaction quality, some aspects of teacher beliefs, and the interplay between teacher-child interaction quality and teacher beliefs in early childhood education through a mixed methods research design. The results overall revealed that there was an intensive need for quality improvement in public pre-primary schools of Ankara, Turkey especially in the domain of instructional support. Some pieces of quantitative and qualitative data indicated that teacher beliefs influenced educational practice in preschool classrooms; however, this was not a strong relationship.
