We proudly completed the 1st Training Session of our Culturally Responsive Schools (CRE4ALL: https://cre4all.tedu.edu.tr/) Project with great excitement and enthusiasm!
The project is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Akın-Sabuncu from our Faculty’s Department of Educational Sciences, with contributions from Dr. Fatma Zehra Ünlü Kaynakçı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökçen Aydın Dalarslan, and Research Assistant Elif Akay, and in collaboration with researchers from Middle East Technical University and North Carolina State University.

Together with our dedicated classroom teachers, psychological counselors, and school administrators, we explored key concepts such as culture, cultural identity, acculturation, migration, immigrant, refugee, and asylum seeker. Through discussions, activities, film clips, and videos, we reflected on how our cultural identities shape educational environments, and we aimed to approach the emotions, needs, and experiences of migrant and refugee students from diverse cultural backgrounds with empathy. We also worked toward building inclusive and culturally responsive learning environments.

Our project aims to support participating teachers, psychological counselors, and school administrators in developing their knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward culturally responsive education, while also fostering a strong collaborative learning community between schools and three academic disciplines.

We extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their active engagement! 👏
We look forward to seeing you in the second session!
