TÜBİTAK 1003 Project entitled “MIGRA-MATH: Supporting Teachers of Immigrant Students with Respect to their Mathematics Education Professional Practices” by Assit. Prof. Dr. Mana Ece Tuna as principal investigator from Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program, continues in its second year.
Other investigators in the project are Assist. Prof. Dr. Tülin Haşlaman, Res. Assist. Sinem Sözen, Res. Assist. Gizem Solmaz, Res. Assist. Gizem Güzeller and Res. Assist. Ayşegül Aracı İyiaydın’ın from TED University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Elif Karslı-Çalamak from University of South Carolina, Prof. Dr. Sinan Olkun from International Final University, Dr. Martha Allexsaht-Snider from University of Georgia, Assist. Professor Dr. Şermin Metin and Neşe Uygun from Hasan Kalyoncu University, Assist. Prof. Aliye Erdem from Ankara University, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Fulya Memişoğlu from Çukurova University.
An education model with cirriculum materials that can be adapted into different disciplines is aimed to be developed for the service of educators teaching immigrant students. In line with this purpose, first, second, third and fourth grades clasroom teachers, having immigrant students in their classes, from Gaziantep, Hatay, Şanlıurfa, Ankara and İstanbul will be empowered in terms of their professional qualities regarding mathematics education by fostering school-family-society collaboration.
