TUBITAK Project on Enrichment Clusters was Successfully Completed.

The TUBITAK 3001 project, which has been going on for 2.5 years under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adile Gülşah Saranlı, was successfully completed with the approval of TUBITAK-Social and Human Sciences Research Group (SOBAG). The method of Enrichment Clusters (Renzulli and Reis, 2008), and measurement tools (My Classroom Activities, Gentry and Gable, 2001) which  has recently started to be heard in our country, has been adapted to the Turkish National Education System in this project. In the project, a total of 96 hours of enriched activities were carried out in three different clusters with 88 primary education students focused on Science, Mathematics and Social Sciences. Individual and group trainings were given to cluster mentor teachers about “Type 1 Enrichment Method ”and mentorship support was provided throughout the process. Qualitative data was collected from students and their families both through the process and at the end of the process via questionnaires and focus group interviews.

As a result of the project, it was seen that the students who applied the enrichment clusters were able to learn the subjects of activity more easily, comfortably and with interest; enrichment clusters activities were successful in their ability to make choices and to improve their learning capacities, and most importantly, they began to feel much more positive about the learning process.

Apart from the practical results of the project, some of its academic and scientific outputs are two refereed journal publishigs, one of which is SSCI and the other is an international refereed journal, both an international poster and one congress presentation. In addition to books, articles, etc. related to the results of the Project, studies will be continued to generalize the method and present the model to MoNE (Ministry of Turkish Education).
