A meeting was held on December 6, 2018 at MoNE Beşevler Campus in order to determine the method to be followed for the training of mentor teachers in the teaching practice. The meeting was carried out by the Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education within the framework of faculty-school cooperation, to discuss the current problems and to develop solutions. Faculty-practice coordinators and representatives of the teacher training institutions in Ankara were participated in meeting and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Balcı and Head of Mathematics and Science Education Department Dr.
MATE 103 and MATH 205 Calculus class welcomed Dr. Sara Dalton-Bildik from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as a guest speaker with the help of Center for Teaching and Learning. Dr. Dalton-Bildik gave a webinar on visualizing limit concept through a technology (TeMath). TeMath is software that helps students to understand the basic Calculus concepts like limit and derivative, is developed by scholars who are working in the Mathematics Department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. We appreciate Dr. Dalton-Bildik for her time and sharing with us.
Dr. Zerrin TOKER, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education gave workshop on Developing and Using Instructional Materials for TED Schools Mathematics Teachers on 17-18 November 2018. The first workshop was held on 29-30 September, and participants of this second workshop were mathematics teachers from TED Adana, TED Gaziantep, TED Hatay, TED Isparta, TED Karabük, TED Karadeniz Eregli, TED North Cyprus, TED Mersin, TED Samsun, TED Sanliurfa, TED Trabzon and TED Zonguldak Schools.
TÜBİTAK 1003 Project entitled “MIGRA-MATH: Supporting Teachers of Immigrant Students with Respect to their Mathematics Education Professional Practices” by Assit. Prof. Dr. Mana Ece Tuna as principal investigator from Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program, continues in its second year.
