The Role of the School Library and the Librarian in IB PYP

The Coffee & Tea Talk session, organized by the 5th cohort students of the TED University Faculty of Education IBEC – IB Educator Certificate Program, was successfully held online on February 13, 2026.
In the opening session, Semra Özder highlighted that within the IB PYP framework, school libraries serve as pedagogical learning spaces that support inquiry, foster information literacy, and deepen learning through collaboration with teachers.
Moderated by Burak Akbaş and Cansel Ceylan, the session included thematic discussions structured around the PYP transdisciplinary themes. The sessions were facilitated by Ülkü Ülker, Sonay Öztürk, İrem Özdemir, Sema Balcı, Seda Yürük, and Emine Arslanhan, during which promising practices and collaborative models from different schools were shared and discussed.
This gathering fostered a strong professional learning community among PYP teachers and school librarians.
