From the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling at TEDU Education Faculty, Asst. Prof. Dr. Olcay Yılmaz gave a seminar for the parents on April 21, 2019, at TED Karabük College.
Faculty of Education, Head of Department of Mathematics and Science Education Dr.Zerrin Toker has organized the “Context Based Instructional Design” workshops for class and mathematics teachers in the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4007-Science Festival organized by the Research and Development Unit of Yenişehir National Education Directorate. The workshop underlined the importance of using contexts as effective way to achieve great ideas in teaching, and guided teachers to make their own instructional designs in the light of examples of how to do this.
EduAction and Ataturkist Thought Student Societies celebrated April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with third grade public school students at TED University. After a tour in the university, they visited the Dean of the Faculty of Education Professor Yuksel Kavak in his room. Students played several games in different areas of the university, and the day ended by coding activities with Bee-Bot and Cubetto robots.
Research Assistant Ayşegül Aracı İyiaydın from Psychological Counseling and Guidance Program will give a seminar at METU Faculty of Education on April 29, 2019 at 15.00 p.m. The seminar is titled as "The Relationships among Partner Acceptance-Rejection, Partner Control, Psyhological Adjustment and Marital Adjustment".
The academicians, one of whom is Asst. Prof. Dr. Münevver İlgün Dibek, a measurement and evaluation expert in the Department of Educational Sciences, the other one is Asst. Prof. Dr. Zerrin Toker, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, and Res. Asst. Gözde Can at the same department, gave a seminar to teachers who are at Cumhuriyet Science High School about how to write items on Thursday, April 11th. In this training, teachers had the opportunity to learn about the properties of the different item formats.
Our Research Assistant Gizem Solmaz traveled to Trinity College Dublin in Ireland as part of Erasmus + Staff Mobility. Within the scope of mobility, she gave a presentation about our faculty at the Learnovate Research Center in Trinity College Dublin. She also participated in the presentations of the projects carried out by the related center.

Within the scope of the practicum course ELE 404-Practice II in schools, senior students at the Department of Foreign Language Education find the chance to improve their professional skills with the support of practicum teachers in the schools. Before starting their careers very soon, they are participating in the teaching practices at the schools which have intensive English language courses in their curriculums.

Seçil Yücelyiğit, one of the academicians of the Department of Pre-School Education of the Basic Education Department, conducted a workshop on STEM Studies at the Kangaroo Symposium and Classroom Practices with Merve Seyrek, our research assistant. During this study, teachers, "What is STEM? What is not?" found answers to questions. Case studies were shared with teachers. Our participating teachers talked about their own STEM studies. In the last part of our workshop, participants were asked to conduct a new study with group work. These studies were shared among other groups.
Dr. Zerrin Toker who is Head of Department of Mathematics and Science Education and Gizem Güzeller who is research assistant at the same department performed the Mathematical Materials Design Workshop at the Kangaroo Mathematics Symposium in Nesin Math Village on April 6-7. In this study, it is aimed to give a new perspective to teacher and teacher candidates about teaching material development. During the study, the materials that the teachers had applied before, were also discussed while the sample materials that could be developed around the big ideas were shared.
TED University Faculty of Education Elementary Mathematics Education Department was in Nesin Math Village. We took part in Nesin Matematik Village for Kangaroo Symposium with our first grade students (11 people) and 2nd grade students (4 people). During this 2-day event, our students had various tasks for the organization. They participated in different presentations and workshops other than their tasks. Our students who came to Nesin Matematik Village for the first time gained a new vision about out-of-school learning environments.
