GPC Students Gizem Gökçe Coşkun, Nehir Kılıç and Sena Demirel attended 16. National GPC Students Congress and presented their scale entitled Perception of Psychological Counselor Candidates on working with Sexual Abusers (CISTO). We congratulate them and wish them to have successful lives!

The ideas from ELT Departments Meeting with 40 prospective teachers from 13 universities on June 21, and with 56 academicians from 25 universities on 28 June were reported. You can find the report here.

Dr. Pelin Irgin visited Faruk Nafiz Camlibel Anatolian High School on 4th of September and Hasan-Sükran Saruhan Secondary School on 6th of September, and presented her seminar titled as “Teachers’ stated belief about listening in a foreign language”. Then, Dr. Irgin applied a questionnaire and a 5-likert type scale on teachers’ belief about listening to the English teachers. The results of the data analysis will be shared with the teachers in the next meeting. 

Prof. Dr. Yüksel Kavak's, Dean of the Faculty of Education, an article titled "A Study on Teachers' Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Student Achievements" was published in Hacettepe University Journal of Education. The full text of the article can be found here.

Dr. Erdem Aksoy presented the paper titled '"An Analysis of compulsory secondary school English language teaching books by values and cultural concepts" at 2nd International Learning, Teaching, and Educational Research Congress 2019 (ILTER 2019) held in Amasya on 5-7 September 2019.

Prof. Dr. Belgin Aydın, the head of ELT Department, was at Bahçelievler Deneme Anatolian High School, with the invitation of the Principal Nurettin Işıldak, for the first meeting of Advisor Academician Protocol. In this meeting, organized with the aim of meeting the teachers working in that school and explaining the implementation of advisor academician, the topics of need analysis survey for teachers, awareness raising trainings and the teachers’ demands for certified trainings were discussed.

Research Assistant Ebru Boynueğri made a poster presentation at 19th European Conference on Developmental Psychology held in Athens, Greece. She presented her work titled “Gender differences in acculturation strategies and identity statutes in international students in Turkey”.

Our second-year student Kübra İler who is studying at Mathematics Education attended STEM training held in Afyon Kocatepe University. In the training topics such as Why do we need STEM?, What should be the engineering design process?, How to integrate STEM?, and What is the engineering design process? were discussed.

Our research assistant Gizem Güzeller participated in STEM professional development program organized in Istanbul between August 19-30 with the cooperation of Mektebim - UNESCO IBE. The program continued for ten days started with IBE-UNESCO Director Dr. Mmantsetse Marope's speech on the impact of the industrial revolution 4.0, the transition to competency-based education and the importance of STEM.
